Our Japanese Lessons

At J-Translation we use the theories of Accelerating Learning to optimise the amount of Japanese students can learn. Accelerated Learning is an umbrella term for a series of practical approaches to learning. These theories draw from a range of disciplines namely; the study of the function of the brain, theories of motivation and attention, the psychology of optimal performance and intelligence theory.

Accelerated Learning carries with it the expectation that when properly motivated and appropriately taught, all learners can reach a level of achievement which may currently appear beyond them.

A summary of methods based upon Accelerated Learning are listed below:

Ø      Create a positive learning environment

Ø      Use visual summary posters, music and physical reprieve

Ø      Focus all feedback on specific performance improvements which can be acted on

Ø      Share an overview of content, process and benefits of the learning to come

Ø      Engage learners by posing problems, providing case studies, and challenging thinking

Ø      Provide opportunities for learners to represent their understanding in a problem

Ø      Create space for reflection and meaningful dialogue.

Ø      Review what has been learned, how it was learned and how it will be used
